Woman and three children seriously injured in Greater Manchester crash

A man's been arrested over a crash in Greater Manchester which has left a woman in a life-threatening condition.

Two cars collided on the M66 in Bury yesterday afternoon.

Greater Manchester Police have confirmed four people were hurt in the crash on the southbound side of the motorway.

A 38 year old woman and three children were taken to hospital for treatment for serious injuries.

Officers have praised members of the public who selflessly helped those injured at the scene.

They're continuing to question a 22 year old on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

Greater Manchester Police statement

Sergeant Matt Waggett from Greater Manchester Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit said:

“Firstly, I would like to thank the members of the public who selflessly helped at the scene and called 999, as well as those who assisted when police and emergency services arrived on scene.

“I urge anyone who may have witnessed this incident to please come forward and share any footage, dashcam or mobile footage, with police. No matter how small you think it is, it could prove vital to our investigation."
