Wigan are one game away from becoming back-to-back rugby league Super League champions for the first time in their history after a dominant 38-nil victory over local rivals Leigh.

The title holders will now take on Hull KR in Saturday's Grand Final at Old Trafford.

Victory in that match would seal an unprecedented quadruple - adding to the Challenge Cup, League Leaders' Shield and World Club Challenge titles Wigan have already won this year.

Head Coach Matt Peet told Sky Sports News: "We’re very pleased. You’re always nervous coming to a semi-final. Leigh have been in good form.

"I knew if we didn’t get the start right, anything could happen, so I was pleased the way we attacked the start of the game, particularly. We managed it well.

"You come expecting a two-point game and you have to do a lot right, but we all know, if you do that and with the start to the second half, they weren’t going to make a game of it.

"It was certainly better than I anticipated. Defensively we did a lot right, we were more connected and controlled it.

"I also liked the way we expressed ourselves with the ball, but if you don't get your defence right, your strengths can be your weaknesses."

Wigan Warriors' Kaide Ellis told Sky Sports News: "It was a great performance, probably couldn’t have asked for more than that.

"All week we spoke about starting well. They put it on us here a few weeks ago.

"They had nothing to lose tonight, so it was all on us, and we just played really disciplined, competed high.

"We hope so there’s magic to come. It’s nice to have our team back together this back end of the year. We’re coming together nicely, which is what you want.

"It won’t get easier next week. Both teams are well matched and play the same type of rugby. It’s going to be a cracker."
