VIDEO: Tens of thousands of pounds stolen from man walking to the bank in Manchester

Police have released CCTV to try and identify the thief.

Tens of thousands of pounds has been stolen from a man in Manchester as he walked to the bank to deposit business takings.

Police have released CCTV showing the moment the thief makes off with the cash along Tibb Street - followed by the victim who then falls over a pot hole.

The incident happened at around 5pm on Wednesday 26th July 2017 when the offender approached the man as he walked along Bridgewater Place and grabbed his bag before running in the direction of Sachas Hotel.

The offender has been described as approximately 25-years-old and white.

Detective Constable Katherine Kerrigan, of GMP’s City of Manchester borough, said: “It has been over a month since this shocking robbery that occurred during one of the busiest times of the day.

“We are hoping that someone might recognise the man or the car in the CCTV or remember seeing something suspicious.

“We have launched an investigation and I would ask that anybody who thinks they may know something that can assist with our investigation to please contact police.

”If you saw the man in the CCTV in the area around the time of the offence, or have any information about him, then please also get in touch."
