Two men in hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries after stabbing

Three people have been arrested - including a 17-year-old boy

Two men, aged 20 and 30-years-old, are currently being treated in hospital with potentially life-threating injuries after being stabbed yesterday evening - Wednesday August 16th .

Officers are currently responding to the incident after a report came in at 6.30pm that two men had been stabbed on Dale Street in the city centre.

Police say this is currently being treated as an isolated incident.

Three males have been arrested on suspicion of assault. - including one 17-year-old boy.

This morning, a police cordon is still in place around the Piccadilly Basin car park and parts of the canal.

Superintendent Phil Spurgeon of GMP's city centre district, said:

"We are treating this as a targeted incident, however there will be an increased uniformed presence in the city centre to aid the investigation and to provide reassurance to members of the public.

"I want to appeal to anyone with information or footage - including CCTV, mobile or dashcam - to share it with the investigation team.

"If you have relevant information, I urge you to report it and help us demonstrate that those who use violence and intimidation have no place on our streets."
