Two men charged after 'dangerous weapons' found in Stretford
Police recovered two guns and a machete from a house on Chester Road
Two men have been charged after police found two 'dangerous' guns and a machete at a house in Stretford.
Officers were called out to reports of a group of youths on electric bikes carrying weapons at around 11pm on Friday night.
Demario Griffiths of Cornbrook Park Road, Trafford has been charged with possession of a firearm.
Levaughan Deans of Stamford Street, Trafford has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
Another two men, both aged 18, and a woman, aged 37, were also arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm.
They have all been bailed on conditions.
However, one of the men was remanded into custody in relation to a breach of a civil injunction.
Trafford North Neighbourhood Inspector Scott Wolstenholme said: “We have removed two dangerous weapons from the streets due to a swift response from our neighbourhood officers with support from specialist force resources.
“An investigation has been launched by Trafford CID alongside our district Challenger Team, focused on dismantling serious crime in our communities, which has led to several property searches as part of enquiries.
“I would like to reassure the local community that we do not believe there to be a wider threat as a result of these recoveries."
