Two men have been arrested after a number of people were injured in a shooting following a Moss Side's Caribbean Carnival.

A 12-year-old girl was among a dozen hurt when shots were fired at a street party last month.

This morning (11th September) officers from GMP’s Major Incident Team were joined by the Tactical Aid Unit to make the arrests in the Baguley and Fallowfield area.

The men, aged 24 and 30, are being questioned on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of a firearm.

The incident, which isn't being linked to the carnival, happened on Claremont Road at around 2.30am on Sunday 12th August.

Armed and unarmed officers were sent to the scene, arriving just one minute after the call came in.

Detective Chief Inspector Colin Larkin, who is leading the Major Incident Team investigation, said: “Since this dangerous attack we have trawled through all available CCTV and intelligence to try and piece together the events of that morning.

“Today our investigation has led us to the arrest of two men and we will continue to question them in relation to the shooting."
