Two in hospital after "serious" crash on M602

Two people have been taken to hospital after a "serious" crash involving two in Greater Manchester overnight.

The M602 is shut Eastbound between Junction 1 and 2 after the crash at around 1am this morning.

A statement from Greater Manchester Police reads:

"This morning, at 12:40am, we were called to reports of a road traffic collision on the M602 motorway between junction 1 and 2.

"It’s believed that the vehicle collided with the embankment causing it to overturn.

"The driver, an 18-year-old boy, has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

"The passenger, a 19-year-old boy, has also been taken to hospital, but thankfully his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

"The road remains closed at this time, and we thank the public for their patience whilst our officers conduct enquiries."
