Tributes have been left outside a house in Salford where an eight-year-old girl and a woman were found dead on Monday (September 23).

The grim discovery was made by emergency services crews, who rushed to a concern for welfare call in the Kersal area, at around 10:30BST.

One woman who knew those involved told Greatest Hits Radio it was "devastating" and she "couldn't get her head around" what had happened.

Other neighbours described the news as "heart-breaking", while some say they are in "shock".

Police have confirmed it is being treated as an "isolated incident" and they are not looking for anyone else as part of their investigation.

Detective Superintendent Simon Moyles of our Salford district, said: “A cordon has been put in place and there is a scene is contained on South Radford Street.

"We continue to thank the public for their patience as we respond in the area.

“We have placed a number of highly visible officers to patrol in and around the area should any residents wish to come and talk to us or pass on any information they may have about this tragic incident."
