A teenager has been left seriously injured after being stabbed in Bury.

Emergency services rushed to Abingdon Avenue, Whitefield at around 5.05pm yesterday afternoon, after receiving reports an 18 year old man had been stabbed in the arm.

He was rushed to hospital where he is being treated for serious injuries.

A 49-year-old man and an 18-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remain in police custody.

Detective Superintendent Ben Ewart said: “Although we have made two arrests, our work is far from over and we are working round the clock to investigate thoroughly. A scene will remain in place while detectives gather evidence.

“We believe this was a targeted attack with no wider threat to the public.

“There will be a visible increase in police presence throughout the weekend to provide community reassurance. If you have any concerns, officers are happy to speak with you and answer any questions.
