Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said:

“Shortly after 7.15pm yesterday (Friday, 3 May), three fire engines from Stalybridge, Mossley and Hyde fire stations, and the Technical Response Unit from Leigh, were called to reports of a gas explosion at a house on Glenmore Grove, Dukinfield.

“Crews arrived quickly and used two breathing apparatus and a gas monitor to assess the scene. One casualty was treated by North West Ambulance Service for minor injuries.

“Firefighters worked alongside Greater Manchester Police and Cadent Gas to make the area safe before departing after approximately an hour and a half at the scene.”

A spokesperson for Cadent said: "Last night Cadent engineers attended an explosion at a property in Tameside. Our role was to support the emergency services with their response to the explosion.

"We carried out checks on our gas network, and we found that the explosion was not caused by our network. Of course, we will continue to be available to support the relevant authorities as they carry out their own investigations.

“If you smell gas, here or anywhere, always call the national gas emergency service on 0800 111 999* immediately, day or night.”

“All calls are recorded and may be monitored."
