Three puppies which were stolen during a burglary in Wigan have been reunited with their owner.

Around 8.30pm on Monday, 3 October 2016, two men forced their way into a home on Prestt Grove armed with a knife and a meat cleaver.

The men confronted the home owner and threatened her before stealing four Dogue de Bordeaux puppies.

The first offender is a white man and is described as between 25 and 30 years old, about 5ft 8ins, with a tanned complexion, of stocky build and was carrying a kitchen knife.

The second man is also white and believed to be about 35-years-old, around 6ft, with shaven hair, tattoos on his neck and he was wearing a grey Nike sweatshirt with multi-coloured detail on the top of the arms.

It is believed they then drove off in a silver Volkswagen which is possibly a Polo or Golf.

Three of the puppies have now been returned to their owner after they were discovered by a member of the public in Bryn.

Deon, Decota and Ty were seen wondering near the junction of Wigan Road and Bryn Road about 8.30am today (Thursday 6 October 2016).

All three appeared to be well but a fourth bitch called Pepper is sadly still missing.

Detective Constable Katherine Andrews, from Wigan CID, said: “We are pleased three of the puppies have been safely returned to their owner but we still want to find Pepper as well as the men responsible for this awful burglary.

“We are now trying to work out how they came to be there and I would appeal to anyone who might have seen something suspicious in that area this morning.

“Any information could lead us to Pepper as well as the offenders.

“I would again urge anyone who is offered a Dogue de Bordeaux puppy, or what looks like a similar puppy, to please call us.”

Anyone with any information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
