An investigation has been launched following reports of shots being fired at a property in north Manchester.

At around 11.20pm on Sunday 16 April, police were called to reports of a suspected firearms discharge on Rochdale Road, Harpurhey.

A cordon remains in place whilst officers continue their enquiries and no injuries have been reported.

Detective Inspector Charlotte Quinn of GMP’s City of Manchester North District said: “I would like to thank the local community for their patience and understanding while we try and establish the full circumstances.

“Thankfully nobody was injured, and the incident is believed to be a targeted attack. This was a reckless attack and will not be tolerated in our communities in Greater Manchester.

“Extra patrol officers have been deployed around the local area both on foot and in patrol cars. If you have any concerns about this incident our officers will be happy to provide reassurance and listen to any of your queries.

"I cannot stress how important it is for the public to come forward if they have any information that could assist our investigation, whether it be CCTV footage, doorbell footage, photos, or descriptions of the suspects or events, we would ask that you report it to us directly."
