A road is closed in East Manchester following a 'serious crash' involving a car and a school bus.

Emergency services are at the scene on Kirkmanshulme Lane near the Speedway track in Belle Vue.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said:

“At just before 4pm today (Wednesday 14 February), fire crews were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Kirkmanshulme Lane, Longsight.

“Two fire engines from Phillips Park and Whitehill fire stations and the technical response unit from Leigh quickly attended the incident which involved two vehicles.

“Crews used specialist equipment to extricate two people from a vehicle before they were transferred to the care of colleagues from North West Ambulance Service (NWAS).

“Firefighters made the area safe before departing after approximately one hour at the scene.”
