Celebrities and fans across the world have been sending their love and condolences to Cristiano Ronaldo and his partner, Georgina Rodriguez, after they shared that one of their newborn twins has died.

A statement on social media from the pair last night said:

"It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that our baby boy has passed away.

"It is the greatest pain that any parents can feel.

"Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness.

"We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for all their expert care and support.

"We are all devastated at this loss and we kindly ask for privacy at this very difficult time.

"Our baby boy, you are our angel. We will always love you."

Manchester United have tweeted their support for the forward, with team mate Marcus Rashford also saying his thoughts are with the pair.

Other United players like David De Gea, Diogo Diot and Alex Telles, all sent Ronaldo a love heart emoji, while

Rival clubs, Manchester City and Liverpool, as well as the Premier League have expressed their condolences to the couple.

Ronaldo's sister also sent him her love, adding that their angel is already with their father, who passed away back in 2005.
