Prestwich Mosque evacuated over suspicious piece of mail

Police are investigating

A mosque in Prestwich was evacuated on Monday (28 October) following the delivery of a suspicious piece of mail.

Police and firefighters were called to reports of a potential chemical substance at the Masjid Bilal Islamic Centre on Bury Old Road.

In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said: "No-one has reported falling ill from the substance and there is not thought to be a wider risk to those locally."

They are now investigating.
