Police investigate rape in Manchester nightclub

Officers say the the victim is being supported

An investigation's underway after a woman was seriously sexually assaulted in a nightclub in Manchester.

Police were called to reports of a rape at the site on Bloom Street in the city centre in the early hours of Wednesday 29 June.

Officers say the victim is currently being supported by specialist services.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "Officers were called to a report of a rape at a premises on Bloom Street in Manchester just after 5am yesterday (29 June).

"A woman was raped by a male and enquiries are on-going.

"An investigation was immediately launched and a number of lines of enquiry are already being followed up. The victim is also currently being supported by specialist services.
