Police make arrest after suspected firearms incident injures 2 on Rochdale bus

Greater Manchester Police have made an arrest following a suspected firearms incident relating to a Rochdale bus yesterday (7th January).

The suspect - who cannot be named for legal reasons - has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage with intent to endanger life.

At 7pm, police responded to reports of a suspected firearms incident on Daventry Road, Rochdale.

Officers at the scene concluded that damage has been caused to a bus operating in the area with windows being smashed.

Minor injuries were sustained by two passengers on the bus.

The cause of the damage is not yet known and detectives are investigating the incident.

As a result of this, there is still police presence in the area whilst the scene is processed.

Greater Manchester Police say that patrols plans have also been increased in the area to provide visible reassurance to the community following this incident.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses or anyone with further information that may help with their investigation, including doorbell or dash cam footage, to make contact.
