Police are appealing for witnesses after a teenage cyclist died in a collision in Rochdale.

Shortly after 11pm last night (Thursday 21 February 2019) police were called to reports that a black Ford Fiesta had been involved in a collision with a 16-year-old boy on Wildhouse Lane in Rochdale.

Emergency services attended and the teenager was taken to hospital where he sadly died.

The driver of the Ford Fiesta remained at the scene.

No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.

Detective Constable Diana Dyer-Barron of Greater Manchester Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “Sadly a teenage boy has lost his life and my thoughts are with his family at this unimaginably difficult time.

“We have specially trained officers supporting his family as they come to terms with their tragic loss and we will do all we can to help them.

“I would urge anyone who was on Wildhouse Lane around 11pm last night, or anyone with dashcam footage of around the time of the collision to please get in touch with us as soon as you can.”
