Picture of car released after teenage girls injured in drive-by shooting in Moss Side
Police say it's a 'vehicle of interest'
The drive-by shooting occurred shortly before 10:30pm on Friday 29 of July, outside an address where a party was being held on Quinney Street in Moss Side
At the time a 16 year old girl was taken to hospital with serious injuries and 13 year old girl also sustained injuries that are believed to be the result of shrapnel from the firearm. Both have since been discharged from hospital and are recovering at home.
Officers are today renewing their appeal and urging anyone with information or footage of the incident or a vehicle of interest to come forward.
Detective Inspector Madeline Kelly of Xcalibre Task Force said: "This incident could have been far more serious. We do not believe that the two girls were the intended targets, they were just at the address enjoying a party. This shows me that those responsible are dangerous and have zero regard for who could have been injured that night.
"Guns have no place on the streets of Manchester and we are determined to bring those responsible for this callous attack to justice. I am appealing to anyone who was in the Moss Side area on Friday 29 of July, between 10pm and 11pm, who may have seen a vehicle being driven erratically to contact us.
"I am particularly interested in any sightings of a dark coloured SUV type car and I am asking for anyone with dashcam or doorbell footage which may have captured those responsible, either arriving or leaving the area, to please make contact. I have trained officers on hand who can download and review any footage.
"I am also appealing to anyone in the local community, or wider, who has any information about the incident to come forward either directly or via Crimestoppers.”
