Last night (Friday 2 February) police arrested three men in a vehicle, suspected to be doing Nitros Oxide balloons, which is now illegal.

The three men, aged between 23 and 28, were arrested on suspicion with intent to supply, and a search of the vehicle revealed six bags of white powder, cannabis, multiple phones and around £700.

The driver, aged 26, was also arrested on suspicion of driving uninsured and without a license. They remain in police custody for questioning.

The arrests come as the latest action from Operation Vulcan, who launched their Piccadilly Gardens initiative in September 2023. The operation aims to transform the area, making it safe and enjoyable for residents and visitors.

Detective Constable Matt Bowling, a specialist officer involved in Operation Vulcan, said: "By having regular police presence in the area we're already starting to see positive changes. We're determined to drive out this criminality and show people that Piccadilly Gardens is no longer a lucrative place to commit crimes or sell drugs, police will seize them, and you will be arrested."
