Peter Kay has announced plans for a special charity fundraiser in his first Tweet since cancelling his mammoth 87 date UK Tour.

Blackpool Opera House will host the event, where fans will be able to watch a screening of his award winning BBC series 'Car Share'. The event will showcase four episodes of the sitcom, including the premiere of two brand new episodes; Car Share: Unscripted and the series finale.

Funds raised from the event will be donated to The Lily Foundation which supports people suffering with Mitochondrial Disease.

Peter said: “The Lily Foundation is an inspiring charity that helps to improve the lives of children with Mitochondrial Disease. I’ve had first-hand experience of the Foundation’s work and I’m proud to raise both awareness and much needed funds to help with the inspiring work they provide to children and their families.”

Fans will be able to watch the exploits of John and Kayleigh, played by Peter Kay and Sian Gibson, on Saturday 7th April 2018.

The series first aired on the BBC in 2015, introducing assistant manager John and promotions rep Kayleigh to the world. To date the series consists of two seasons, with each episode showing the pair’s often hilarious journeys to and from work.

The unscripted episode and the series finale will round off Season Two at the charity event.

Tickets will go on sale from 9am on Saturday 31st March 2018 through Ticketmaster.
