New Year road deaths in Greater Manchester

A woman's died in Radcliffe and a man's died in Altrincham.

There have been a number of fatal collisions on Greater Mancheter's roads over New Year's Eve.

A 12-year old girl's among the victims - after a hit and run in Oldham.

Before that - shortly after 5.20pm on the 31st December, police were called to reports of a collision between two pedestrians and a car on Bury New Road near to the junction of Radcliffe Moor Road.

A woman in her 60s was pronounced dead at the scene.

A man in his 60s was taken to hospital where remains in a critical condition.

The driver of a white Toyota Yaris – a man in his 70s – was also taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A number of road closures are in place and drivers are being asked to use alternative routes.

Seperately, in the early hours of New Year's Day a man died following a collision in Altrincham.

Police were called to reports of a collision between a car and a pedestrian on Manchester Road near to the junction of Navigation Road.

A man in his 50s died at the scene following a collision with a silver hackney carriage.

His family have been informed but formal identification has not taken place.

The driver of the taxi stopped at the scene.

Road closures are currently in place in the area while officers carry out enquiries.
