A British MP is calling on the UK to ban dangerously thin models ahead of London Fashion Week.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Caroline Noakes, chair of the All Parliamentary Group on Body Image, is campaigning for new restrictions in which models must have a healthy Body Mass Index before they can be used in a catwalk.

Earlier this year, French MP’s approved a similar law to ban the use of fashion models that were deemed to be too thin.

Noakes said: “Let’s have a parliamentary inquiry, let’s see whether here in the UK we should be emulating the example of places like France and say lets have minimum BMI’s and let’s make sure that everybody who is on the catwalk is healthy”.

This demand for change comes after plus-size model Ashley Graham took to the stage at New York Fashion week yesterday and led a runway full of curvy women.
