A teenager's been arrested over a fatal stabbing in Moss Side

Police have made an arrest after man was murdered in Moss Side.

At about 12.10pm on Tuesday 22 March 2016 police were called to Crondall Street in Moss Side to a report that a man had been stabbed.

Emergency services attended and discovered that a man had suffered stab wounds.

He was taken to hospital but he sadly died from his injuries.

Formal identification has not yet taken place and a Home Office post-mortem will take place later today.

Police have launched an investigation and enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody for questioning.

Superintendent Dave Pester said: "We have made an arrest, but this is a complex investigation that is still in the early stages.

“Understandably there will be speculation about what has happened but I would to ask that people allow us to investigate this incident and if you have information then please contact police.

“I would like to assure the public that we have an increased level of police officers in the area to offer reassurance to the community in Moss Side.

“I would urge the local community to come forward if they saw or heard anything in the area to contact police.”
