Missing Manchester man investigation now treated as murder.

Police searching for missing Michael Martin have now launched a murder investigation.

Michael Martin, 25, was first reported missing on Monday 8 August 2016 and was last seen at his home on Sidmouth Drive in Blackley in the early hours of Sunday 7 August 2016.

Officers investigating have since searched two properties in Blackley, one on Victoria Avenue and one on Longton Road. A room at the Premier Inn on Middleton Road in Higher Blackley has also been searched as part of the investigation.

His car has since been found on Vermere Avenue, Blackley. Police are now treating this investigation as a non-body murder and appealing for anyone with information about what may have happened to Michael to get in touch.

Detective Inspector Andrew Naismith from GMP’s Major Incident Team said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who may have any information about what has happened to missing Michael Martin.

“We are investigating a number of possibilities; however a non-body murder investigation has now been launched.

“Our specialist support officers are supporting Michael’s family through this incredibly difficult time and my thoughts are with them.”
