Greater Manchester Police have released shocking photos of the injuries four officers recieved while carrying out a number of warrants in the city.

Nine addresses were targeted during raids in Harpurhey yesterday after a string of violent incidents over the past couple of months - including three confirmed cases of gunshots being fired.

Six men aged between 16 and 31 were arrested.

One of the men was taken to hospital after saying he felt ill, but he then turned violent and attacked four police officers.

The injuries include bites to two of the officers, including a 69 year old Special Constable who has been supporting front line policing throughout the pandemic.

GMP say the officers were left understandably shocked by what happened. Despite this they finished their shifts and will be back on duty for their afternoon shift later.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault, section 47 assault, and assault of an emergency worker.
