Manchester's Lord Mayor suffers homophobic abuse outside Bieber gig

The Lord Mayor of Manchester's made a formal complaint to police after he was subjected to homophobic abuse outside the Manchester Arena.

Carl Austin-Behan was attending Justin Bieber’s latest stop on his Purpose World Tour in Manchester when he claims to have been verbally abused by two girls.

After the incident Carl tweeted the Greater Manchester Police twitter account and said he will be reporting the alleged abuse as a hate crime.

The Police and Crime Commissioner Tony Lloyd has branded the incident as disgraceful.

“This is disgraceful & @gmpolice are investigating. Manchester's first citizen facing this abuse shows how far society still has to go.”
