A murder investigation's been launched after a man's body was found in Trafford.

It was discovered at a house on Manor Avenue in Urmston at about 18:40 last night (Thursday 22nd December 2016).

A 62-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Detective Superintendent Simon Retford of GMP’s Major Incident Team said:

“People will understandably be alarmed when they hear about this, but I want to offer my assurances that we have launched a full investigation with a team of detectives carrying out enquiries this morning.

“We will be doing everything we can to establish what has happened and will continue to work hard to address any concerns local residents may have and offer support to anybody in the community affected by this incident.

“I would urge you to come forward if you saw or heard anything suspicious in the area that might help us establish how the man died.

“Your information might be vital to our investigation so I would ask you contact police immediately with anything you know.”
