Man injured after stabbing on Deansgate
Officers say the victim, 40, is lucky to be alive.
A man is in hospital with stab wounds after being attacked in Manchester city centre.
It's understood the 40-year-old was involved in a fight on Deansgate at 11.30pm on Thrusday.
The victim was taken to hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.
An investigation has been launched and police are looking for two men in connection with the incident.
Anyone who may have witnessed the stabbing, or any fighting on Deansgate is being asked to contact police as soon as possible.
Inspector Gary Smith from GMP’s City of Manchester team said: “Thankfully we are confident that the man will recover from his injuries, but he could have easily died as a result of this horrific attack.
“I’m am appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the stabbing or the fighting to get in touch.
“We believe two men ran from the scene and we are very interested in speaking to them about what happened.
“This part of the city is always busy and attacks like this are very worrying.
“I would like to reassure everyone that we are doing our best to find those responsible and bring them to justice.”
