Man fighting for life after Harpurhey stabbing

Police are appealing for witnesses

A man's in a critical condition in hospital, after a stabbing in Harpurhey.

Greater Manchester Police were called to reports of a disturbance with a group of five males on Windsor Street 6:15pm yesterday (Monday 11 September 2023).

Officers say a 34-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries consistent with the use of a bladed article.

No arrests have been made and a scene remains in place as police investigate.

Detective Inspector L Gibb of Greater Manchester Police CID said: "This investigation is in its very early stages and we are working hard to piece together the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

"We are treating this as a targeted attack and I want to reassure the local community that extra uniformed officers have been deployed to the area to carry out enquiries and to provide reassurance. They will remain in place throughout this evening.

"We are also appealing to anyone with relevant information or footage concerning this incident (including CCTV, mobile or dashcam) to share it with police.
