A man in his 20s has been taken to hospital with 'potentially life-threatening and life-changing injuries' after falling from a bridge in Manchester city centre.

Police were called to the Hulme Arch Bridge at around 3:35pm on Thursday 4 May 2023.

Colleagues from NWAS and Helimed also attended the scene.

The bridge and surrounding roads, including inbound and outbound traffic on the Princess Road junction of Mancunian Way and Princess Road junction with Greenheys Lane, were temporarily closed while emergency services dealt with the incident.

Greater Manchester Police are now appealing to anyone who may have witnessed what happened to get in touch.

Inspector Phil Marsh of CoM Central district said: “Enquiries are still ongoing at this time to try and establish the circumstances of this incident, which has left a young man seriously injured.

“We would therefore be grateful if anyone who saw the incident, or may have captured it on dashcam footage, to give us a call via 101 or through the Live Chat function on the website www.gmp.police.uk.”
