Greater Manchester Police have confirmed a man has died, after a stabbing in Moss Side last night (Wednesday 15 October).

Emergency services were called at around 8pm to a report of a man with a serious stab wound on Moss Lane East. When they arrived, they found the 22-year-old with life-threatening injuries. He was rushed to hospital, but died shortly after.

GMP say that from initial enquiries, they think there was a 'disturbance' between the victim and his friend with two other men on Moss Lane East.

The two men fled in a white Seat Ibiza and the victim’s friend stayed at the scene and called emergency services.

An investigation is underway but no arrests have been made, in the meantime officers are upping patrols in the local area.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Naismith of GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: “We are in the early stages of our enquiries and are working to build up a full and comprehensive picture of the events leading up to this young man’s death, whilst our thoughts remain with his family who officers are supporting.

“I understand people will be concerned when they hear the news of what has happened, but I would like to reassure them that we do not believe this was a random attack and we have a number of additional resources deployed to identify those responsible.

“We are appealing for the public’s help and are asking for any witnesses to come forward that saw the white seat Ibiza on Moss Lane East or in the surrounding area.

“You may think that what you saw is only minor, but it could be vital to the progression of our investigation, so please get in touch.”

“I also ask anyone who has dashcam or CCTV footage from the area to contact us on 101 quoting incident 3210 of 25/10/2023.”
