Man dies after car hits tree in Rusholme
A man has died following a collision in Rusholme.
At around 4:45am on Wednesday 14 December 2016, police were called by the fire service to reports a car had collided with a tree on Birchfields Road.
The driver of the car was taken to hospital where he was sadly pronounced dead a short time later.
A section of Birchfields Road has been closed whilst enquiries are carried out.
Sergeant Paul Higgins of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “This is a tragic incident and I would like to offer my condolences to this man’s family, who we are working to provide with support from specially trained officers.
“There are currently road closures in place whilst we carry out enquiries so I would advise commuters to avoid the area and plan an alternate route.”
