Man charged in Tameside murder investigation

A man has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder of Thomas Campbell in Tameside earlier this month.

Thomas Campbell, 38, was found dead at an address on Riverside in Mossley at around 10.30am on Sunday 3 July 2022.

Despite the best efforts of emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the scene and a murder investigation was launched.

Stephen Cleworth, 37, of Charles Street, Heywood, has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder. He appeared at Manchester Magistrates today (11 July 2022) and has been remanded until his next appearance on 15 August at Manchester Crown Court.

A 31-year-old who was arrested on suspicion of murder on 7 July has been released without charge.

The investigation continues and anyone with information is urged to report it.
