A man's been charged after a shooting and stabbing at Gorton.

Police were called to reports of gunshots on Thursday evening (23rd April) near to the cemetery on Thornwood Avenue around 7pm.

The 34 year old, from Burnage, who's been charged with possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence will appear at magistrates on Monday (27th April).

The charge is linked to a funeral which had taken place there earlier in the afternoon - a man who was found on Waterhouse Road with minor knife wounds was taken to hospital and later arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

The funeral had seen police called out as hundreds of mourners turned-out - breaking lockdown laws - to pay tribute to a criminal known as "Mr Ibiza".

Graves were trampled and armed officers had to attend the sending off for local man Clive Pinnock who died in a road crash earlier this month, when his motorbike and car were involved in a collision.
