A Manchester airport jobs fair is expected to create 3,000 new jobs for the area.

The event has welcomed over 30 employers offering a wide range of roles including: Airport security, Check-in, Baggage handlers, Cabin crew, Retail, Hospitality Customer service and Receptionists.

The ongoing success of the airport has resulted in the creation of a huge number of new careers in order to meet the increased number of passengers and flights.

Chris Baker, who has recently been made redundant, has praised the prospect of jobs being prioritised for the local area. He told Key 103; "I think jobs should be made for the local area first of all, it's easier for them to travel and they're more likely to turn up, it's just better all round."

The jobs fair at the Runway Visitor Park included employers from the likes of WH. Smith, Costa Coffee and Jet2.com.

Manchester Airport is already one of the largest centres of employment in the North West with more than 21,500 people directly employed on site, supporting a further 45,000 jobs in the region.
