Jessie James Shooting - Nine Years On

Published 8th Sep 2015

Today marks the anniversary of one of Manchester’s most shocking murders when 15 year old Jessie James was gunned down in a park near to his home.

The teenager ‘s death was seen as a catalyst for change in Moss Side and the area once behind the infamous ‘Gunchester’ nickname given to Manchester has seen a dramatic drop in gang related incidents.

Jessie’s mum Barbara pleaded for justice for her son at his inquest but despite a £50,000 reward being offered by police no one has ever been convicted of the schoolboy’s murder.

Jessie was shot while travelling through Broadfield Park and police believe his death was a case of mistaken identity.
