A guns amnesty has netted an arsenal of weapons since it was launched in Greater Manchester

53 hand guns, 5 shotguns and 7 rifles had been surrendered within four days - including a replica AK47 which was brought in to Ashton

Police Station. Other weapons handed over include air rifles and BB guns as well as bullets, shotgun cartridges and pellets.

The 'Give Up the Gun' campaign launched on Monday (4th April 2016) giving owners or gaurdians of firearms the chance to hand them over without the fear of prosecution for illegal possession.

Anyone who wants to get rid of guns or ammunition will be able to do so anonymously at their local police station until Monday 18th April

Police insist that any guns found to be part of a serious crime will result in further investigations and prosecutions.
