Great Manchester Run: 35,000 runners expected to take to the city
The annual event is sold out
Tens of thousands of runners will take the streets of Manchester today as they compete in the AJ Bell Great Manchester Run 2025.
More than 30,000 are expected to take part in the 10k and half marathon events, which are sold out.
The Great Manchester Run 2025 is the biggest GMR in over a decade.
The event starts on Portland Street and finishes on Deansgate, passing through iconic Manchester sites.
Over 150,000 spectators are expected to line the streets in support of the runners.
Official starters include Olympic Champion Keely Hodgkinson, Dame Kelly Holmes and Great Run Ambassador Eilish McColgan.
There will be a significant number of road closures and extensive bus diversions in place.
Anyone making a journey by road should check the TFGM website before they travel.
If you're taking the bus, check if your route is impacted.
There are two routes: the 10K takes in the sights and sounds of Salford and the city centre, while the half marathon route stretches out to the east of the city, as well as working its way past all the important landmarks of the 10K.
