GMP serving officer arrested on suspicion of rape

The temporary sergant remains in custody for questioning

A serving Greater Manchester Police officer has been arrested on suspicion of rape.

The temporary sergeant - based in GMP's City of Manchester district - was detained on Tuesday 7 February following a report recieved that day.

They remain in custody for questioning.

In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said: "On Tuesday 7 February 2023, in an immediate response to a report received that day, a temporary sergeant posted to GMP’s City of Manchester district was arrested on suspicion of rape and remains in custody for questioning."
