Police are looking for the car and driver

Officers are appealing for information after a four-year-old girl was injured in a hit and run in Bolton.

Shortly before 6.45pm on Saturday 10 September 2016 police were called to reports of a collision between a car and a childl on Peace Street. The car is believed to be new-style black Vauxhall Astra and left the scene which was near the Zakariyya Mosque before police arrived. The girl is currently in a stable condition at hospital after suffering a leg injury. Detective Inspector, Matt Bailey-Smith, from GMP’s Bolton borough, said: “Thankfully this young child is going to recover from what has been a really traumatic experience, both for her and her parents – this could have had devastating consequences. “I would appeal directly to the driver of the car to come forward to police while I would also ask any witnesses to call us. “If you saw a similar car in the area around the time of the collision, you could also hold vital information to help us trace the driver.” Anyone with any information should call police on 101 quoting incident number 2126 of 10 September 2016
