Former Soldier Appeals For Return Of Stolen Military Medals

Published 23rd Nov 2015

A retired soldier from Manchester has launched a campaign to get his war medals back - after thieves broke in and stole them.

57 year old Christopher Johnstone and his wife were visiting their son in Edinburgh, when they got a call from a neighbour telling them about the break in.

When they got back to their home in Withington - they found only the bedroom had been ransacked, and only the medals had been taken.

Christopher feels the thieves may have been looking for them specifically, after he wore them out on Remembrance Sunday in Didsbury.

Christopher served in the military for 22 years, and earned 6 medals while he did, which he’s keen to get back.

They were the General Service medal for Northern Ireland, Accumulated Campaign medal, UN Cyprus medal, NATO Bosnia medal, Queen’s Golden Jubilee medal, and Long Service and Good Conduct.
