Five-year-old fighting for life after M67 crash

Greater Manchester Police are appealing for information after a five-year-old boy's been left fighting for his life in hospital, following a crash on the M67.

At around 2.45pm yesterday (Monday 29 April 2024), officers were called to reports of a collision on the eastbound carriageway between J3 for Hyde and J4 for the A57. Two vehicles were involved, a Vauxhall Astra and an HGV.

The two occupants of the Astra, a 38-year-old woman and five-year-old boy were taken to hospital to be treated for their injuries.

The woman’s injuries are described as not life-threatening; however, the child’s injuries are described as life-threatening.

A 39-year-old man - the driver of the HGV – was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving.

The force's Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

They are also keen to speak to anyone who may have any footage, including dashcam or mobile phone footage from the area in the moments leading up to the collision.
