Firefighters have been tackling a large blaze involving seven vehicles on the M6 in Cheshire.

Crews from Winsford, Alsager, Lymm, Irlam and Altrincham were called to the incident on the northbound side between junctions 19 and 20 at about 14:15pm on Thursday 15 December.

Officers got the fire under control and spent a number of hours damping down the trailer and the vehicles on it.

The fire meant that the motorway had to be closed for a time. It was then gradually reopened once the area had been made safe.

Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service also confirmed that there were no injuries.
