Fatal Stockport stabbing - man arrested

A woman has died after being stabbed at Cheadle Hulme in Stockport.

Police launch appeal for witnesses following robbery.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a woman in Stockport.

The 39-year-old woman was found with stab wounds at a house in Cheadle Road, Cheadle Hulme.

Police had been called to the house at around 7.40pm on Monday (18/04/16) and she died a short time later.

The arrested man is also 39.

Detective Superintendent Tony Creely of Greater Manchester Police's serious crimes division said: First of all our thoughts go out to the family of the woman at this dreadful time.

We have launched a murder investigation and a 39-year-old man has been arrested. He is now in custody and being questioned by detectives.

The investigation is in its very early stages, however we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the murder.
