Family of Bolton stabbing victim pay tribute to his “cheeky smile”

The family of a man fatally stabbed in Bolton have paid tribute to him, as three people have been charged in connection to his death.

Michael McCann, 35, died last weekend after being stabbed on Back Bradford Street in Bolton, on 7th June.

Greater Manchester Police say one man has been charged with murder, another with assisting an offender, and a woman charged of obstructing police.

Paying tribute, Michael’s family said: “Michael’s sole purpose in life was the needs for his family. He will now miss out on being the brother and uncle that he wanted to be.”

Michael’s cousin added: “As a family we are in total shock and deeply devastated by this terrible news. We can't believe we will never get to see his cheeky smile again.”

Detective Chief Inspector Nicola McCulloch, from Greater Manchester Police’s Major Incident Team, said: “Our investigation is progressing, having charged three people in relation to this incident.”

“We are still appealing for members of the public with information to come forward and assist our investigation.”

A fourth person, a 50-year-old man, has been released on bail in connection with the incident.

Police have urged anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have video footage to contact 101, quoting incident number 3001 of 07/06/2024 .
