Extra patrols in Stockport after objects 'thrown onto the M60'
Officers had numerous reports of objects being thrown over the side of Northumberland Road onto the motorway
Extra police patrols are being put in place in Stockport after a series of reports of anti-social behaviour.
Officers say objects have been thrown from Northumberland Road onto the M60, damaging vehicles and putting drivers at risk.
On Friday, three buses were hit in Brinnington – with one passenger suffering minor injuries – and a police car had its roof dented.
In a statement, police said on Saturday (08/11): "Officers had numerous reports of objects being thrown over the side of Northumberland Road onto the M60 resulting in damage to vehicles and danger to road users.
"Last night three buses were damaged in Brinnington, with one passenger hit but thankfully they suffered only minor injuries.
"Further reports of damage to a delivery van and a police vehicle, which had its roof dented from an object thrown at it.
"No arrests have been made in relation to these incidents but officers are stepping up patrols to tackle the issues."
'Anti-social behaviour is simply unacceptable'
Chief Inspector John Picton of our Stockport district said: “Anti-social behaviour is simply unacceptable, it causes distress and damage to our communities. These recent incidents are dangerous and our investigations into them are ongoing.
“Expect to see an increased police presence in the local area to reassure residents that this kind of behaviour will not be tolerated.
“Please speak to our officers if you have any concerns you would like to raise, they are there to help you.”
