Officers say the injuries an elderly woman suffered in a robbery in North Manchester will be ‘undoubtedly life changing’.

The 67-year-old was rushed to hospital after a robbery on Clayton Hall Road on Friday lunchtime (12.55pm on February 9) - suffering injuries to her leg and surgery.

An unknown man in black clothing is reported to have approached the woman from behind before dragging her to the floor and stealing her handbag.

He then made off towards Stanton Street.

Police say the victim will require surgery following the incident, which has so far seen no arrests.

Anyone with CCTV, doorbell, or dashcam footage that could aid in identifying and locating those responsible, should report this directly to GMP.

Detective Sergeant Terina Arthern said: “This incident is a really sad one where an elderly lady has had her bag taken from her, while she was out conducting her daily business, causing no one any harm.

“The officers on the scene made sure she was as comfortable as she possibly could be until our colleagues from the North West Ambulance Service took her to hospital.

“She is currently awaiting surgery to the injuries she sustained during this incident, which will undoubtedly be life-changing for her at this stage in her life.
