Eccles Fire Hero

A 72 year-old’s thanked a neighbour from saving him from a fire at his flat- for the second time in ten years.

William Kernighan was rescued ten years ago during a fire caused by a cooker- then again on Sunday night after another fire- this time caused by a microwave.

The unconscious pensioner was carried from his smoke filled home by Annis Bouhlel who lives in the flat above.

William said he’s very grateful to his neighbour and admitted if it wasn’t for his heroics, he probably wouldn’t have survived either fire.
