A 17 year old boy has been arrested, after reports of a large group of youths fighting in Tameside.

They're said to have gathered outside a house on Droylsden Road in Audenshaw, causing a disturbance, around midnight last night (12am on 14th July).

A number of cars in the area were reportedly damaged, but nobody was injured.

Greater Manchester Police says its officers arrived on scene, dispersed the group, and arrested a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of a public order offence.

They've also been given extra powers in the area, with a dispersal order in place from 12.15am on 14th July 2024, until 12.15am on 16th July, meaning officers can remove people from the area if they're suspected of engaging in anti-social behaviour.

Chief Inspector Dave Henthorne, from GMP, said: "This was an alarming incident for many residents in the area. The scenes of violence, disorder and criminal damage last night are totally unacceptable and it is very fortunate that no one was seriously hurt.

"Violence has no place on our streets or in our communities and we are determined to hold those responsible to account.

"Officers will remain in the area for reassurance and if you have any concerns or information to share, I would urge you to speak with them."
